coaching

I thought when I got up there that everything you said would go out the window, but I actually did focus on breath and checking in with my body, which really helped keep me centered on what I was saying. I was much less nervous than I have been in the past... overall, great feedback from clients and good practice.— carter, executive coaching

what sets Fia apart as a coach

Deep curiosity about the nature of shared spaces; an approach that partners the whole self with others & architectural space; and 20 years of diagnosing choices that cause unintended chain reactions in your body & voice.

I teach synchronization: intent, body & voice in coordination. All of you telling the same story.

I teach the way I was taught... with conviction; willingness to soar beyond the familiar; empathic insight into human behavior; an expansive worldview; a visceral relationship with language; curiosity and joy.

Things are going really well for me, which I attribute to much of the work we did together... I have never felt more confident in all aspects of my life... I feel more emboldened to have difficult conversations with our current clients... You have given me a lifelong gift for which I am eternally grateful... — scott, executive coaching

Great leadership requires presence, clarity of intent, and whole-body listening. You have agency over this, and it's something you can practice. Our process helps separate the distortions that result from fear and ego, so you can experience how every presentation and conversation is an invitation to partnering.

During our time together, you choose what (a speech, a presentation, a particular activity) and I work with you on how (by diagnosing your current choices and introducing ways for you to experience something in a new way). Together, we'll create a constructive plan towards your desired goal.

Working together in person, is by far the most effective method of coaching. However, this isn’t always possible, so I recommend a combination of in-person coaching with Skype sessions. We’ll begin with a preliminary consultation that is free of charge. From there, I’ll propose a framework for our coaching sessions.

In our time together, you will:

  • Become more aware of your body and the clues it’s giving you so you can re-direct your energy
  • Learn simple physical awareness techniques that can help re-orient and balance you throughout the day
  • Discover how creating a 3rd space can yield more effective results than binary relationships
  • Experience full-body listening in order to more accurately read a room and adjust your presence to more effectively partner
  • Create a conscious plan, specific to you, that will eventually help you embody this work unconsciously

authentic voice coaching

I’ve been practicing my exercises and I already feel more aware of my voice and when I carry tension... I may make the jump now and take some voice lessons simply because I’m curious about how big/free my voice could actually be.

Our voices reveal as much as our words. Your sound is influenced by your physical environment, the physiological structure of your body, your life experiences and choices, including the way you feel about yourself. It’s taken as many years to develop your unique sound as you’ve been alive on the planet… so it will take time and joyful discipline to create pathways for new muscle memory. Your physiology cannot change, but your choices can.

Working together, in person, is by far the most effective way to work on the voice. However, this isn’t always possible, so I recommend a combination of in-person coaching with Skype sessions. We’ll begin with a preliminary consultation that is free of charge. From there, I’ll propose a framework for our coaching sessions.

In our time together, you will:

  • Become more aware of your body and the clues it is giving you
  • Learn simple physical awareness techniques that can help re-orient and balance you throughout the day
  • Play with ways to expand your vocal range, access more tones and sharpen articulation for more clarity
  • Identify what you'd like to change and create a sustainable practice towards vocal health and wellness

I am not a vocal therapist – if, after preliminary consultation, it is evident you require medical attention to address your concerns, I’ll help you find a licensed professional in your area.
