original pen + ink: taste it all

One time picking strawberries with my grandmother, she held one out to me. Taste it, she said. & I took a bite & she said, Stop. Close your eyes. Now, taste it all, she said. It was sun-warm & sweet & there was the sound of bees & the feel of the hot earth under my toes & I opened my eyes & she smiled & said. Nothing finer. Even now, I remember what it is to taste it all like that.
