contemporary storyblocks

It is a simple question: how do you remember what matters to you?

We started doing the storyblocks because we wanted that kind of reminder ourselves. Something in our home to give us a momentary pause in the day. Whether on the mantel, or our desks, or the windowsill in the kitchen, they remind us that this is the moment we have. To love the people in our lives. To hear the glorious songs of the birds in our yard. To see the clouds in a summer blue sky. To pay attention to what is right here in front of us...

As you go through the stories we have here for you, see if one of them brings you back to your own quiet..

There's something about the wood each block is made from that brings its own quiet. There is a rhythm to it - once part of towering living trees, then repurposed for a building or a barn, now reclaimed to carry our stories. It's a practice that feeds us both in the studio, celebrating the craft of things made carefully by hand, working with existing materials, remembering we're only one small part of the story of this wild planet we share...

We use hardwoods for each piece we send to you - lately, they're mainly cherry & maple. Each storyblock also comes wrapped, with a small tag from the studio, so even if it's for you, it feels like a gift...

(If you've been here before, you'll notice that we keep adding to the stories that are available. To save you a bit of time, we've now separated our storyblocks into two categories: the library & contemporary storyblocks.)

If you don't see what you're looking for here, browse through the library for storyblocks...
