story keeper: open box
When I went off to college, my mom sent along a little clay jar filled with small, folded up pieces of paper on which she had written quotes from one of my favorite books, Earth Prayers. Whenever I felt alone or wanted inspiration, I could reach into that jar and pull out a scrap of paper.
It worked. It was like unwrapping a little present from my mom each time I unfolded a tiny little square. I’d see her handwriting, which carried a presence just on its own, and then I’d read the quote she’d chosen, which always offered a perspective that help put my concern or hope in relation to something larger.
Whenever I ran low on the scraps of paper, I’d just give her a call, and she’d send along a new envelope of little folded squares for me to pour into the jar.
I wanted to create something like this for others. In our Flying Edna style...
We've had one of these boxes now for awhile. And it turns out I still keep pieces of paper in this box... first it was recipes, now it’s writing prompts, fragments, anything to get me started when I feel stuck.
The story keeper box comes all on its own, ready for you to write down special notes for your self or someone you love...
We create these one at a time. From scratch. We have three designs we follow - this one is the open box. It is large enough to hold business size envelopes. I use it in our studio to hold our stickers, stamps, papers, & for some unknown reason that makes me smile, seeds for bright red sunflowers I will plant in the spring...
This particular piece comes without a story stamped on the side.
Please allow 4 weeks for us to make this. If you want to ensure you have this as a gift for the holidays, please order before November 1.

repurposed & handcrafted...
We have the deep joy of working with incredibly beautiful wood, sometimes from trees that are hundreds of years old... This means every piece that leaves our studio carries along its own history & is entirely unique.
The wood species will vary according to what we can source from local small businesses that share our ethos.
All our reclaimed wood products are made for you as soon as you place an order - which is why it may take us a day or two to get these out to you.
We shape, sand & wax each piece here in our studio. Woodcuts are done freehand. Unless stated otherwise, painted pieces have our unique bird & brush process: 4-6 layers of paint, graphite & ink (including a secret hand written wish between layers).
Our wood pieces come with a small card telling a bit about us & the piece, & are either wrapped in repurposed pages from old books or in an organic cotton bag.
