original gesso: 'random sense'

Original graphite story on gesso on kraft. Unpublished as of yet.

I regularly do these in the studio. I have a stack of gessoed kraft paper (the name of this particular paper is Sundance Kraft) close at hand & I'll pick one up & draw lines on them in graphite & I'll just start writing until I run out of space. It's a great exercise in trust & listening as the story unfolds of its own accord.

(There is a rhythm to these stories that often points me in an entirely different direction than I think I'm going. If you've never done it, I recommend it highly. Start with an empty page. Write what comes to mind. Follow it out without knowing where it's going to go. Find out what you've missed while you've been busily Getting Things Done On Your List...:-))
